I thank the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for a small educational grant to buy QX5 microscopes for the Reed School District in Marin, California and their overall encouragement for this project. I also thank Bel Aire school (the principal Ms. Patti Purcell, the technology coordinator Ms. Lori Mustille, and the many teachers who have tried the microscopes and contributed ideas).
